Exuding tranquility and a sense of peace, the 34m/112ft motor yacht ‘Queen of Sheba’ put YachtCharterFleet’s editorial team instantly at ease when they were invited on board for a tour during the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show.
Since her launch in 2006, Queen of Sheba could usually be found traversing the majestic cruising grounds of Scandinavia, basking under the Northern Lights and snaking through some of the world’s largest fjords.
But things are changing for the Custom Line-built superyacht, as she will now be repositioning to Barcelona for future charters exploring the glittering coastlines of the Mediterranean.
When we were invited to tour her off the coast of Monaco, we found she was perfectly primed for discerning guests. She enjoyed an extensive refit at the beginning of 2018, and now boasts a chrome-blue exterior and graceful, spa-inspired interiors by Italian design house Zuccon.
Based in Norway, the owner was also looking for a yacht where he could enjoy the region’s abundance of calm ocean and secluded anchorages and, 12 years ago, this led him to Queen of Sheba.
Since joining the global charter fleet, she has become a highly in-demand superyacht. Meticulously upkept, she has benefitted from annual interior refreshes to keep her in pristine condition, with plenty of modern amenities to delight and entertain, whether she’s welcoming large groups of friends or hosting relaxed family charters.
Dining al fresco was an key factor when designing the superyacht, as was ensuring the interiors would complement the spectacular views of the world outside. As soon as guests step on board, they are greeted by a sleek dining arrangement on the main deck aft, with a glass-topped table and lavish flower arrangement at the centre.
Here, meals can be enjoyed under the shelter of the upper deck, without compromising the vistas over the water. Sofa-style seating is also located here, creating the ideal setting for an evening aperitif. Wide doors lead to the main salon, which is adjoined by an indoor dining room in a fluid, open-plan layout.
Tall windows bathe the interior space with natural light, making the polished wood gleam and the green accents pop. The suffusion of light, coupled with the seamless configuration of the space, contribute to a feeling of being at one with the surrounds.
Dotted around the main salon and dining room, plants flourish quietly. Next to them, sophisticated furnishings by Stockholm-based label Olivia Herms give the yacht a bespoke edge.
The room is warm and welcoming, with plush blankets and cushions adding a homely feeling. On the starboard side, a large plasma-screen TV is well-placed for movie nights while at sea; but for a spot of old-fashioned entertainment, the coffee table boasts a built-in games board for guests to make use of.
From the main salon, a corridor extends forward to the master suite, past a well-positioned dayhead. Principal charterers will find the master suite is sophisticated and chic, with mirrored wall panels behind the headboard and a gently sloping ceiling.
The principal suite has employed a more classic scheme of crisp cream and coffee tones.
Making good use out of the available space, a caramel-coloured, L-shaped leather sofa in sits on the port-side of the suite, where guests can recline and enjoy looking out over the ocean. Zuccon has opted to steer clear of colour infusions in this space, instead opting for a more classic scheme of crisp cream and coffee tones.
Adjacent, the polished en-suite exudes a resort-like feel, with thick, embossed towels hanging from a heated rail and a jacuzzi hot tub for charterers to enjoy. Marble his and hers sinks flank the room, with luxury toiletries lined up alongside delicate soap dishes.
The themes of refined elegance extend across her four additional guest cabins, which are well-appointed to balance spaciousness with convenience.
Each cabin emanates a soothing energy, with two double cabins and two twin cabins, each complete with sumptuous, extended beds and dedicated en-suite facilities.
Crowning the motor yacht, the sun deck is home to an informal dining set-up and seating area, along with a small spa pool encircled by sun pads aft.
The area is well-appointed for a yacht of her size, creating the perfect place for the charter party to get together and bask in the sunshine.
An added bonus is the open flybridge, which gives charter guests the opportunity join the captain at the helm and a get a taste for navigating the waters.
The superyacht boasts a chrome-blue exterior and graceful, spa-inspired interiors by Italian design house Zuccon.
Our tour finished on the forward portion of the main deck, which volunteers an additional spot to lie back in and soak up the sun. Sun pads stretch out temptingly, giving charterers an intimate and private retreat to head to for a sundowner as the day draws to a close.
The area is decked out with plush cushions, creating a spot which blends supreme comfort with incredible vistas.
With her experienced crew, convivial communal areas and sporty good looks, the superyacht is the ideal candidate for those looking to experience the Mediterranean in the lap of luxury.
