Monaco Climate & Weather Averages

Weather Information for Monaco

Monaco has a pleasant Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. Ideal for luxury charter yacht vacations, it enjoys around 300 days of sunshine each year and reaches temperature highs in the summer months of July and August. The day time temperatures during the summer usually remain between 20°C and 23°C with a constant sea breeze from the coast, ideal for watersports and al fresco dining.

Spring in Monaco is slightly cooler, partly due to the infamous ‘le mistral’ wind that blows through blowing from the northwest of Europe. The wind has the effect of clearing the sky and drying the air which accounts for the crisp refreshing feel in Monaco in the spring. Autumn in Monaco boasts clear skies and average temperatures of 15°C to 21°C with October and November generally the wettest months. The Monaco winter is from December through to February and has an average temperature of 9.5°C with January being the coolest month with an average minimum of 8°C and an average maximum of 12°C.

By using our extensive climate guides for each charter region throughout the world, you can explore in-depth weather information for each month and work out which time will suit your individual needs.

For example, the sea temperature will largely affect how much time you intend on spending in the water trying out your superyacht toys so watersports will want to make sure they travel during the warmest periods. In contrast, some areas may become particularly hot during summer and charterers would be advised to book later to ensure more comfortable conditions.

Although the most popular times to embark on a private superyacht vacation are usually during the peak summer months, there are many different elements to take into consideration before you go. Here we have used our detailed climate data to provide a monthly overview of when might be the best times to visit each destination.

If you want to enjoy Monaco at the height of its summer festivities and when the Mediterranean weather is at its hottest, head out between June and August and join the crowds in the chic beachfront bars and nightclubs. If you’re a motor racing fan then Monaco is the perfect place to plan your itinerary around world-renowned events such as the Monaco Grand Prix. This takes place every May during a hedonistic long weekend of Formula One, glittering parties and superyacht s, all coming together for one noisy, bustling event. However, if you are not interested in Formula One then this is the worst time to visit as the streets of Monaco are very restricted and finding a berth is almost impossible. To avoid the crowds and see the more cultural, tranquil side to Monaco, go out of season during September or the beginning of October when it is still warm but the crowds have dispersed. Christmas and New Year is also a special time in Monaco when the principality comes alive with a host of parades, concerts and celebrations. On New Year’s Eve revellers congregate in the magnificent Casino Square to see in the New Year.
